Having been a fairly regular user (regular = visiting the site at least once an hour) in the past year, I've caught on to a few things the users here, myself included, just can't get a handle accepting.

Tanga Can Take a Long Time To Ship

Whenever I do any CD or DVD shopping, there's a site I always comparison shop along with Amazon. Often the prices are cheaper by a few bucks and there's no minimum for free shipping. When I order from Amazon, I know I can expect the package in 2-4 days (ah the joys of living in a major metropolis). Through the other company? At least 1.5 weeks. It didn't take long for me to notice the additional shipping time, but for the added discount, I was willing to be patient.

Tanga seems to have its ups and downs on shipping time. Apparently, they'll include a note as to when to expect a game to ship, but a lot of us miss it. Still, if getting The Scepter of Zavandor $10 cheaper than the nearest competitor shipped means I have to wait an extra 2 weeks to get it, I can deal. It's not like we don't have enough games to hold us over.

How about a similar one... Pre-Orders can take a Looooong time to ship. Do not believe any date except the one on the calendar when you have the game in your sweaty little hands.

A few years ago I got almost all my DVD's from these guys. But at the time they were significately cheaper then Amazon. Now they are only slightly cheaper and do take much much longer to ship. I've done the same thing as Erik has and now use Amazon. Usually 2 DVD's or a DVD & CD is enough for free shipping so the difference is minimal.

The funny thing about getting spooked when a game takes longer than a week to ship is that I generally don't even play the game for weeks (sometimes months) after. Hannibal was a good example. I was hanging for this to arrive! It only too a few days, but then I never even played it until, like, three months after.

I suffer even worse with CDs and DVDs sent from the US to Australia (up to three weeks), but once they arrive, the excitement is gone.

It must be all in the anticipation...I have paid for it but will it arrive, will there be something in the letterbox tonight and what if it just doesn't turn up, what'll I do?

So what you're saying is that you'll enjoy your purchase much more if you only anticipate and never receive it? I can help with that...just place an order, and include Race for the Galaxy: Gathering Storm and tell us not to ship until everything is in stock. You'll get all the anticipation you can handle! ;)

You've had delays from Deepdiscount? I've always received my orders within a week from ordering from there, shipped USPS Priority Mail to my P.O. Box.

Back before they started selling everything under the sun, it usually took 10 days to ship to the east coast [USPS Priority], but, during the massive DVDTALK [et al.] 20% off sale, it could take 2+ weeks. Not particularly surprising considering the number of orders they take during that period--the site used to time-out regularly during the first day or two of the sale. I always chalked it up to just trying to fill all the orders (particularly during the Fall sale as there's a lot of christmas shopping to be done there).

Since they've radically expanded their offerings, I've had similar delays but in the non-sale periods. It's made me wonder if they don't keep a physical inventory of a lot of those books, cds, etc. but instead order from distributors after orders are placed.

As the owner of a company that did a Tanga deal, I can tell you why: Tanga usually isn't doing their own shipping. They sometimes do, if they buy something cheap on their own account, but a lot of the time what they do is take the orders and then send the FedEx labels to the company that actually has the stuff. The company then packs, attaches labels and ships.
