Description

[Edit] [History]

This game uses the very popular card system which first appeared in Avalon Hill's We the People game to detail the struggle between Carthage's Hannibal and the Roman Republic in approximately 200 BC. Players use strategic-level cards for multiple purposes: moving generals, levying new troops/reinforcing existing armies, gaining political control of the provinces involved in the war, and generating historical events. If perchance two armies meet on the battlefield, a second set of cards is used to determine the winner. Ultimately both players seek victory by dominating both fronts: military and political.

0 Hannibal Notes and Player Aid
Hannibal Rome vs Carthage Notes v1.doc
Hannibal notes file that I use to teach the game and to refresh my memory about the rules. The last page is a player aid. Incorporates the Valley Games edition of the rules and any clarifications from the BGG rules forum.
1 Pocket Player Aid
Hannibal_RvC_PocketMod Summary Color.pdf
Update: Added BC distribution, increased font size, and color-coded the cards. Based on angioman’s rules rewrite (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/29069; use it!) and hecose’s summary (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/22538). Also includes a reformatted version of Doomfarer’s strategy card list (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/8299). Print 2 copies, one for each player. Go to http://pocketmod.com/howto/ for instructions on how to fold this printout.

4 Carthaginian Generals - Playaid
Hannibal2.doc
I got tired of the eye strain looking at the map, so created these playaids. This one shows the Carthaginian Generals and lists their special abilities as well as play notes from the rulebook in a nice table form. Print on cardstock paper for a nice cheatsheet.

3 Province Control Track based on VG graphics
Province Control Track v1.zip
Checking out who controls which province is always a mess - I hope this player aid helps... It provides a track that shows all provinces and also includes counters to place on these provinces, so you always see who has which and how many provinces.
9 Province Cards.
Province cards.doc
These new set of Province Cards are in the style of the Valley Games edition and are retained by each player to more easily determine who controls what. Note that there are no Province Cards included for ones that do not count for victory points.
